Every now and then it is important to take a step back and change the daily routine for a while. These times help to refresh the view and recharge the batteries. When my timeout came closer a friend referred me here. And yes, It is a perfect place for a visual refreshment.
The Azores are an archipel of several islands in the Atlantic. Officially they belong to Portugal, but somehow the islands feel like a hidden gem. A wonderful place for nature lovers, travelers and photographers like me. It´s mostly a quiet place, maybe there is a storm coming in every now and then, but locals get used to it. It doesn´t really matter as long as you see the sun the next morning. Some even say Atlantis was somewhere around here. Today the Azores offer a mix of well established routes and remote locations.
If you love nature and trekking, enjoy lonely paths through green mountains or climbing the mount Pico, the Azores are a worth to look at destination. You can start easy with Sao Miguel and take the ferry to the other islands like Terceira, Sao Jorge, Pico and Faial. These are the five inner islands of seven, which make a nice route through to the volcanic paradise.
